Severe cold conditions beginning to impact parts of our network, we wanted to remind our customers of some of the safety precautions that CN takes in accordance with our Winter Plan and as regulated by Transport Canada to safeguard our employees, our communities, and the goods that we transport. Severe cold and high snowfall present challenging conditions to safe railway operations, primarily to our braking system. As part of CN’s winter operating plan, when temperatures fall below -25C, train length is restricted following a tiered system to ensure safe operations. *For more information about the intermodal operational impact on tier restrictions, please see the table at the bottom of this email. While Tier 2 in parts of the network does not imply all shipments will be delayed, please note we are actively monitoring traffic as well as initiating winter operation actions as detailed in our Winter Plan. If there is any risk of delay, we will be in direct contact with affected customers. FORECASTED NETWORK LOCATIONS – TIER RESTRICTIONS Based on 7-day weather forecasts and depending on origin and destination points, Tier 2 train lengths are in effect for trains moving through the Jasper/Blue River, AB to Winnipeg, MB corridor. Trains traveling through this area will have to be length compliant at the time of passing. TERMINAL AND TRUCKING OPERATIONAL IMPACTS
